JOB SUMMARY

Job overview

Addenbrooke’s vascular surgery department is one of the largest in the UK, and we are giving an exciting opportunity to join our growing specialist nursing team.

Vascular surgery is the field in which disorders of the vascular system (arteries and veins) are treated mostly through surgical intervention.

We work collaboratively and provide vascular surgery services throughout the majority of the east of England region.

We will provide comprehensive training to ensure that you are confident in your work as a vascular nurse.

Main responsibilities of the job

The specialist nurse’s role consists of nurse-led surveillance clinics, patient follow-up telephone clinics, assisting in vein treatments in an outpatient theatre setting, managing patient caseloads, having a strong working relationship with the multi-disciplinary team and consultants, working closely with the vascular ward to provide knowledge and teaching for complex and challenging wounds, and helping support the coordination of the various vascular disease-specific pathways.

You will eventually be able to triage referrals and assist in the implementation of teaching sessions and study days. Provide expert advice, information, and direction to patients and colleagues, while also managing our established critical limb ischaemia clinic, which reviews and treats patients with limb-threatening diseases.

We are searching for an enthusiastic nurse who is eager to advance in the specialty nursing job and who can adapt to the changing demands of the service, as each day presents a new challenge. This position demands good communication, organisational, and prioritising abilities, as well as the ability to operate independently or as part of a team.

If you are interested in the position and want more information, please feel free to meet with the team to discuss it.
