Senior Theatre Practitioner – International Spinal Scrub Specialist
The Wellington Hospital
Full-time | 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: 4 or 5 days a week, occasional weekends
Permanent | Salary: Competitive + allowances

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Theatre Practitioner with expertise in complex spinal procedures to join our Theatre team at The Wellington Hospital, currently rated “Good” by the CQC. Our theatres provide a dynamic, professional environment, equipped with cutting-edge technology to support a wide range of specialties.

As part of our multidisciplinary team, you’ll be helping deliver the highest standard of care in areas like neurosurgery, spinal surgery, cardiac care, orthopaedics, and more. With 11 theatres across three buildings, we cover a variety of surgical disciplines.

You’ll work alongside a skilled and supportive team of theatre professionals. The Wellington Hospital is proud to offer opportunities for career development, including access to advanced training programs, such as our Surgical First Assistant Course.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead theatre lists, setting up and maintaining high standards of care for patients undergoing spinal surgery.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
  • Provide leadership within the theatre suite, guiding less experienced staff and encouraging continuous learning.

What You’ll Bring:

  • HCPC or NMC Registration (OSCE ready).
  • Proven experience in neuro or spinal surgery, with a minimum of 3 years at a Senior Theatre Practitioner level.
  • Expertise in complex spinal procedures such as ALIF, TLIF, XLIF, intradural lesions, and craniotomies.
  • A collaborative approach to teamwork, with the confidence to run theatre lists and set up theatres independently.
