Role Overview

The University of Sussex is seeking a Research Fellow to join an MRC-funded transdisciplinary hub dedicated to decarbonising healthcare commissioning and delivery. This post will focus on Sub-Theme 4: Digital and Remote Care Pathways, identifying and evaluating sustainable innovations in digital healthcare systems.

The role is a collaborative position spanning the Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) under Professor Mahmood Bhutta and the University of Sussex Business School, led by Professor Dimitra Petrakaki. You will contribute to high-impact research aimed at improving environmental sustainability in healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research on digital and remote healthcare pathways to support greener, more sustainable healthcare systems.
• Identify, evaluate, and report on innovative digital interventions in healthcare delivery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, contributing to policy influence and advocacy for sustainable healthcare practices.
• Manage your own research workload, deliver high-quality outputs, and support team objectives.
• Disseminate research findings through reports, publications, and presentations to academic and policy stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

Education: PhD (or near completion) in digital healthcare, health services research, management, or related fields.

Experience: Prior research experience in digital or remote healthcare pathways; familiarity with policy influence or advocacy is highly desirable.

Skills:

• Ability to manage independent research projects while contributing to collaborative goals.
• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
• Interest in sustainable development and interdisciplinary problem-solving.
