Role Overview
The University of Sussex is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the CLIMB-ALS project (Comprehensive Longitudinal Imaging Study to develop MRI Biomarkers of CNS Degeneration in ALS patients). This UKRI-funded initiative, supported by the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), focuses on identifying microstructural changes in the brain and spinal cord of individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the most prevalent form of Motor Neuron Disease.
You will join the Clinical Imaging Sciences Centre, collaborating with Principal Investigators Dr. Samira Bouyagoub (University of Sussex) and Dr. Andrew Barritt (University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust), alongside project partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze diffusion MRI data from ALS patients and healthy control participants.
- Manage and process blood samples for biomarker studies.
- Use specialized neuroimaging software (e.g., FSL, Freesurfer, SPM) for data analysis.
- Report findings in research meetings, conferences, and peer-reviewed publications.
- Contribute to project planning, methodology development, and knowledge dissemination.
Candidate Profile
- Education: Doctorate (PhD) in Physics, Engineering, Neuroscience, or a related discipline.
- Experience: MRI analysis and neuroimaging expertise; experience with diffusion MRI is highly desirable.
Skills:
