Job Description

Registered Nurse – Children & Young People’s Community Nursing Service (CYPCNS)

Location: Glenmar Residential House, private residencies across Fife, and education settings
Organisation: NHS Fife
Contract: Permanent | Full-time

About the Role

As part of the ongoing expansion of our Children & Young People’s Community Nursing Service (CYPCNS), we are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for compassionate and motivated registered nurses. This role involves providing expert nursing care to children and young people with complex and exceptional health needs across various settings — including residential care, private homes, and educational environments.

You will play a vital role in supporting children’s individual health plans while working collaboratively with families, education professionals, and health and social care partners to ensure high-quality, child-centred care.

What You’ll Do

Working under the guidance of the Nurse Team Leader, you will:

  • Deliver safe and effective nursing care to children and young people with additional complex health needs.
  • Train and supervise healthcare support workers, students, and education or social care staff in clinical practices relevant to children’s healthcare.
  • Support and monitor the implementation of each child’s care plan in collaboration with multidisciplinary partners.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and day-to-day supervision to junior staff and parents involved in direct care.

About You

We are looking for a UK-registered nurse who is flexible, self-motivated, and committed to improving outcomes for children with complex health needs.

Essential skills include:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team.
  • A compassionate and adaptable approach to children’s healthcare.

Previous experience in paediatric or community nursing, particularly with children who have exceptional healthcare needs, would be advantageous.

Training and Development

NHS Fife offers comprehensive training and ongoing professional development opportunities. You’ll work alongside a knowledgeable and supportive team dedicated to helping you grow in your nursing career.

Employment Requirements

  • You must hold a valid registration as a nurse in the United Kingdom.
  • Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is required before appointment.
  • All applicants must demonstrate their legal right to work in the UK.

If you are not a UK or Irish national, you must provide evidence of your right to work during the recruitment process. Further details about the different visa routes and right-to-work requirements can be found on the UK Government website.

For some roles, sponsorship under the UK Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker Visa may be available, provided eligibility criteria are met — including minimum salary thresholds and employer sponsorship status. You can find official guidance on these criteria on GOV.UK.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

NHS Fife is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We encourage applications from all backgrounds and actively support individuals with disabilities, long-term health conditions, or neurodivergence through reasonable adjustments during recruitment and employment.

We aim to build a workforce that reflects the diverse communities we serve — where every team member feels valued, supported, and empowered to give their best.
