About the Role
The University of Reading’s School of Law is seeking an outstanding academic in EU Law to join our internationally recognised faculty. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, globally focused community with a strong commitment to academic excellence.
The successful candidate will actively engage in the School’s teaching agenda at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and will play a key role in shaping the student experience. You will also contribute to the School’s research reputation, building on our strong performance in the Research Excellence Framework (REF), where 99% of research outputs were internationally recognised, and the percentage of 4* outputs has doubled.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality research in EU Law with outputs suitable for submission to REF 4* and 3* categories.
- Provide teaching excellence to undergraduate and postgraduate students in EU Law.
- Supervise PhD students, supporting their development and research progress.
- Develop and implement a five-year research plan aligned with the School’s strategic goals.
- Contribute to academic leadership, administration, and wider School activities.
- Participate actively in the everyday life of the School of Law, fostering a supportive and inclusive academic environment.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Recognised record of research excellence in EU Law.
- Demonstrated ability to produce world-leading or internationally excellent research.
- Internationally recognised expertise in EU Law.
- Emerging global research reputation.
- Experience in academic leadership and contribution to wider academic life.
- Ability to provide high-quality teaching and PhD supervision.
Desirable Attributes:
- Strong engagement with global and European academic networks.

Work Location & Flexibility
The position is based at the Whiteknights Campus in Reading. Full-time or part-time employment is possible, with the University supportive of flexible working arrangements, including job-share opportunities, to align with individual circumstances and business needs.
