Job Description
Overview
Flux Technologies is at the forefront of micro-fabrication, MEMS, and optical device innovation, powering the next generation of hardware behind AI, sensing, and advanced computing systems. We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Integration Engineer to lead the design, development, and scale-up of custom fabrication flows for cutting-edge micro-optical and MEMS-based devices.
This position bridges research and manufacturability — ideal for engineers who can take bold R&D concepts and turn them into scalable, production-ready processes. You will work closely with our cleanroom team, partner fabs, and R&D institutes to push the boundaries of what’s possible in semiconductor and photonic integration.
 Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Process Design: Develop, prototype, and refine custom fabrication flows across silicon, glass, and compound substrates for MEMS and micro-optical devices.
- Prototyping & Iteration: Translate CAD designs into fabricated prototypes, using rapid process cycles to optimise performance and yield.
- Scale-Up & Documentation: Transition R&D processes into pilot-ready workflows, defining mask sets, material stacks, and process dependencies.
- Cross-Sector Collaboration: Partner with universities, external fabs, and equipment suppliers to qualify new tools, materials, and process steps.
- Hands-On Development: Operate and troubleshoot key fabrication tools including lithography, etching (RIE/DRIE), deposition (PVD/ALD), and wafer bonding systems.
- Process Leadership: Guide junior engineers and external partners through process discipline, FMEA analysis, and structured review cycles.
- Data-Driven Optimisation: Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to monitor, analyse, and optimise yield outcomes.
- Knowledge Management: Maintain detailed documentation, conduct process reviews, and ensure robust knowledge capture across teams.
 Required Experience & Skills
- 5–15 years’ experience in MEMS fabrication, micro-optics, or semiconductor process integration.
- Proven record of developing or modifying complete end-to-end fabrication flows for advanced devices.
- Expertise in at least three of the following:
- Photolithography
- Dry or Deep Reactive Ion Etching (RIE/DRIE)
- Thin Film Deposition (PVD, ALD)
- Wafer Bonding
- Wet Chemical Etching
- Experience leading external collaborations with R&D partners or foundries.
- Competency in DOE/SPC analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Python).
- Degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics (BEng/MSc/PhD).
- Excellent communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.
 Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with wafer-level packaging and flip-chip integration for MEMS or optical systems.
- Experience transferring lab-scale processes to pilot or volume production.
- Knowledge of FEM simulation, profilometry, interferometry, and L-I-V/spectral characterisation.
- Prior collaboration with UK or European R&D consortia.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: £82,000 – £119,000 (dependent on experience and location)
- Equity Participation: All employees receive stock options — own a piece of our growth.
- Visa & Relocation Support: Full relocation assistance (UK or international), handled via a professional migration partner.
- Healthcare: Comprehensive BUPA private medical and dental coverage, with no pre-existing condition exclusions.
- Tech Setup: M4 Macs (M4 Pro for Engineers), ergonomic workstation, and Sony noise-cancelling headphones.
- Professional Tools: Personal company card for workflow-enhancing tools (e.g., ChatGPT Pro, software licenses).
Work-Life Balance:
- 25 days annual leave + UK bank holidays
- Hybrid/flexible schedule
- Location bonus for staff within 20 minutes of the HQ
Extras:
- Chef-prepared dinners at the London HQ
- Monthly social events
- Cycle2Work scheme
- Pension plan and salary sacrifice options
- Local café coffee tab
- On-site 3D printer access for creative or personal use
