Job Description

About Us

The UCL School of Management is a globally‑recognised centre for business and management education. We specialise in innovation management, technology‑intensive organisations, business analytics, and entrepreneurship. Our research was rated “world‑leading” and “internationally excellent” in REF 2021, placing us second in the UK for Business & Management. The School holds accreditation from both AACSB and AMBA and is a member of the Chartered Association of Business Schools.
Our faculty and student body are diverse: the School hosts over 2,000 students (more than 55% international) and our faculty hold doctorates from leading institutions such as Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Cambridge and London Business School.
Collaborative in nature, the School leverages UCL’s interdisciplinary strengths — working with departments across engineering, computer science, economics, psychology, public policy and statistics.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced teaching‑focused academic to help shape our Technology & Innovation degree. This role emphasises teaching excellence and curriculum leadership rather than a traditional research track. You will design and deliver modules in technology innovation, engage industry partnerships for real‑world student experience, and help launch new initiatives to strengthen the programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver and assess courses in technology innovation and related subjects at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Engage with industry partners to create live innovation projects for students, fostering real‑world exposure and applied learning.
  • Lead curriculum development initiatives — proposing new modules, refining pedagogy, and enhancing programme quality.
  • Provide a high‑quality student learning experience through teaching excellence, strong evaluation feedback and inclusive pedagogy.
  • Supervise assessments and examinations, support teaching assistants and engage in continuous teaching improvement.
  • Contribute to educational leadership — this may include programme leadership, module leads, or project team coordination.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other disciplines and help foster interdisciplinarity in teaching the technology‑innovation agenda.

Candidate Profile

Essential Criteria:

A doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in a field related to business, management, technology or innovation.

Substantial teaching experience in business, management, technology or innovation subjects at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.

Evidence of teaching excellence: consistently strong student evaluation results and demonstrable success in delivering teaching on relevant programmes.

Proven capability in curriculum development and educational leadership (e.g., acting as a module or programme lead).

Strong ability to integrate theory and practice: engaging students from diverse disciplinary and cultural backgrounds and working effectively with industry‑oriented and technology‑driven teaching.

Additional / Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience designing and delivering applied/industry‑engaged modules or programmes in technology innovation.
  • Evidence of building partnerships with industry or external organisations to support student learning and experience.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teaching settings, combining business/management with technology, design or engineering.

What We Offer

  • Generous annual leave: 41 days (27 annual leave + 8 bank holidays + 6 closure days) with the option to purchase up to 5 more days.
  • Pension: Defined Benefit Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) scheme.
  • Additional benefits: Cycle‑to‑work scheme, season‑ticket loan, immigration loan, enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption pay, discounted medical insurance, staff support programmes.
  • Flexible working: Though the role is on‑site, the School supports flexible working arrangements where feasible..

Visa / Sponsorship Information

This role is eligible under UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) for a Skilled Worker Certificate of Sponsorship or under the Global Talent route. We welcome international applicants who require visa sponsorship.

To apply, please submit:

A one‑page cover letter highlighting your relevant teaching experience, curriculum development achievements and industry engagement in the technology‑innovation domain.

Applications should clearly reference the essential and desirable criteria above.

Start Date

The appointment is expected to commence on 1 January 2026, or by negotiation.
